WHEN | 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012  WHERE | Fulton 55 875 Divisadero, Fresno, CA 93721  WHY | Passion Bucket is a local brass hip-hop band formally known as Yesterday’s Chonies. The first time I saw Passion Bucket perform was at ArtHop, the first Thursday in March 2012. Soon after the sun went down, a bike brigade, eight people deep, rolled up and set up shop in the alley behind Broadway Studios in Downtown Fresno. They did a guerrilla gig right then and there. It was awesome, and the Fulton 55 show should be no different. $5 admission fee. 21+

WHEN | 4 p.m to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 WHERE | Fulton 55 875 Divisadero, Fresno, CA 93721 WHY | KFSR and the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation will present a showcase in honor of Ella Fitzgerald’s 95 birthday and Jazz Appreciation Month. The Joe Lenigan Band will be performing along with vocalists Debbie Rudd, Karen Marguth, Lisa Kao, and Vern Selland. Come expecting great music, wine tasting and local art. $10 suggested donation at the door. 21+

WHEN | 8 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 WHERE | The Lamp Post 607 E. Divisadero, Fresno, CA, 93721 WHY | It was Vintage Days 2010 when I first saw local indie rock band Life on the Sun perform. The all-male quartet formed in summer 2010 after one of the guitarists up and left the group. It did them a world of good. They have only played about six shows since. Tonight will be the seventh. If you like the songs on the voodooplaylist, you’ll probably enjoy Life on the Sun, and if you don’t, jam band The Creeping Green and brass hip-hop band Passion Bucket are also playing. The Lamp Post is a small venue, but there’s never a cover charge, drinks are reasonably priced and the walls are filled with local art. Yadida holla.
